William Lee Wells, Sr., age 78, of Springfield, KY passed away at 10:58 p.m., Friday, June 18, 2021 at his home after a brief illness.

He was born in Vincennes, Indiana on November 18, 1942 to the late Arvin and Florence Dennison Wells. The family soon moved to Lawrenceville, Illinois where Bill spent his childhood and attended school. Following school he spent four years in the United States Navy.

He was of the Methodist faith and was a retired employee of the University of Louisville.

Preceding him in death were three brothers, James E., Arvin and Donnie Wells.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ruth Phipps Wells; two sons, William Lee “Billy” Wells, Jr. (Tana) of Springfield and Donald Wells (Toni) of Nashville; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Linda Kay Hawkins of Lawrenceville, Illinois and two brothers, Marvin Wells (Susie) and David Wells of Lawrenceville, Illinois.

In keeping with his wishes cremation was chosen.
