William S. “Billy” Gribbins, age 81, of the Mooresville Community of Washington County, passed away at 11:16 a.m., Monday, October 9, 2023 at his home after an illness.
A native of Marion County, he was born on July 1, 1942 to the late Charlie and Mattie Coulter Gribbins.
He was a member of the New Birth Mission and a retired employee of Armour Food Company where he worked for thirty-two years.
Preceding him in death were seven sisters, Lucy Gribbins, Martha Barlow, Rosie Hiatt, Dorothy Fields, Catherine Jaggers, Evelyn Jaggers, and Irene Caffee and two brothers, John Thomas “Buddy” Gribbins and Robert Gribbins.
Survivors include his wife, Gale Foster Gribbins; a daughter, Melissa “Missy” Harmon (Donald Dewayne “Winkom”); a son, Billy Joe Gribbins (Amy) ; three grandchildren, Emily Inman (Charles), Mason Harmon and Addyson Gribbins; two great grandchildren, Aleecia “Alee” Inman and Ariella “Arie” Inman; his mother-in-law, Patty Foster; a sister-in-law, Pam Foster all of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 13th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Nelson Reynolds, officiating.
Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be David “Davey” Gribbins and Johnny Gribbins.
Serving as casket bearers will be Danny Goff, Travis Goff, James Barlow, Marvin Trent, Charles Inman, and Robbie Gribbins.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 Thursday and after 8:00 Friday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
