Vernon Leon Burns

Vernon Leon Burns, age 92, of Bardstown, formerly of Willisburg, KY was called home at 3:50 a.m., Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown.

A native of Washington County, he was born on July 24, 1932 to the late Chester and Audrey Byrd Burns.

He was a retired employee of General Electric Company and a member of the Brush Grove Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Jean Carman Burns on October 20, 1980; two sons, Larry Dewayne Burns and Ricky Leon Burns; a grandson, Justin Xiong and a granddaughter, Pamela Burns.

Survivors include three daughters, Melody Xiong of Wachula, Florida, Annie Saumier and Gail Coleman (Corey) of Bardstown; a son, Stephen Burns of Bardstown; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 23rd at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Everett Hood, officiating.

Burial will be in the Brush Grove Cemetery in Willisburg.

Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Burns, Corey Coleman, Jimmy Lewis, Salem Xiong, Bryan Vincent and Vo Yang.

Visitation will be after 11:00 Friday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
