Thomas Louis Mattingly, age 82, of Jimtown Road, Springfield, passed away at 10:21 a.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
A native of Marion County, he was born on June 22, 1938 to the late Edward Athanasius “E.A.” and Nannie Elizabeth Harmon Mattingly.
He was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church, a 1956 graduate of St. Charles High School, a retired employee of Owens-Illinois in Bardstown and an army veteran.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Shirley Ann Smith Mattingly on November 7, 2014; two grandsons, Andrew “Drew” Richardson on October 24, 2005 and Brian Thomas Mattingly on May 16, 2000; a sister, Mary Patricia Baldwin and five brothers, Thomas Elbert, Charles Leo, Joseph Walter, Paul Elbert and Edward Athanasius Mattingly.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Renee (Craig) Bradley of Springfield and Laurie Ann (Chayo) Martinez of Reseda, California; two sons, Chuck Mattingly of Lebanon and Thomas Jeffrey (Patty) Mattingly of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; four grandchildren, April (Josh) Mattingly, Derek Mattingly, Aaron Bradley and Eric (Moriah) Bradley; thirteen great grandchildren; a brother, Willie Mattingly of Lebanon and four sisters, Theresa (Lloyd) Arnold of Frankfort, Barbara Ann Bartley of Lebanon, Betty Jane (Earl) Bickett of Loretto and Gracie Mae (Sonny) Campbell of Campbellsville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 16th at the St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Kevin McGrath, officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Rose Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Thomas H. Smith, Eddie Blandford, Nicholas Smith, Joey Smith, John Michael Medley, and Jimmy Ray Foster.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Monday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 Monday evening at the funeral home.
