Sue (Smith) Masters

Carolyn Sue Smith Masters, age 72, of Mackville, KY passed away at 9:25 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown.

She was born on January 20, 1954 in Harrodsburg, KY to the late Russell and Elizabeth Snow Smith.

She was a graduate of Mercer County High School, a member of New Harmony Baptist Church and a personal caregiver.

Preceding her in death was a granddaughter, Brooke Elizabeth Blanford; a son-in-law, Jesus Ruiz and two brothers, Robert Smith and Marshall Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry A. Masters; two daughters, Tara Ruiz (Justin Hogendorn) of Bowling Green and Misty Garrett (Joshua) of Greensburg; two grandchildren, Emily Blanford and Katie Russell; two brothers, Russell Gene Smith (Marti) of Lawrenceburg and James “Jimmy” Smith of Perryville and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 7th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Robinson officiating.  He will be assisted by Rev. Tom Brothers.

Burial will be in the Peter Cemetery at Mackville.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Smith, Joey Smith, Randy Smith, Marty Hatchett, Leland Turner and Joshua Garrett.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 on Wednesday, May 6th and after 8:00 a.m. on Thursday.
