Shirley (Cheatham) Satterly

Shirley Cheatham Satterly, age 76, of Willisburg, passed away at 4:29 a.m., Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Baptist Health in Lexington.

A native of Washington County, she was born on October 4, 1944 to the late Benjamin Franklin “Bennie” and Myrtle Pinkston Cheatham.

She was a member of the Mt. Freedom Baptist Church where she served as the custodian for thirty-seven years. Shirley was a 1962 graduate of Willisburg High School and a homemaker.

Preceding her in death was a son, Craig Satterly on September 13, 1994; a sister, Imogene Hopkins on March 14, 2009 and her husband, Ken Hopkins on September 14, 2017; three brothers, Charles Cheatham on February 18, 1938, Bennie Cheatham, Jr. on February 3, 1943 and Jerry Cheatham on March 29, 2019 and a brother-in-law, Harold Whitmore on September 1, 1996.

Survivors include her husband, Danny Satterly; two sons, Ricky Satterly (Sonya) of Springfield and Eric Satterly (Amy) of Lawrenceburg; three daughters, Denise Morris (Jeff) of Frankfort, Kelly Penn (Robert) of Lawrenceburg and Chrystal Cox (Phillip) of Cardwell; twelve grandchildren, Heather Lacy (Wes) of Lexington, Brittany Phillips (Allen) of Lawrenceburg, Brandon Penn (Amber) of Lawrenceburg, Ryan Penn of Nebraska, Cody Baker (Corrie) of Lexington, Maegen Purdom (Quincy) of Springfield, Amanda Alderman (Ty) of Lexington, Emily Whalen (Ben) of Nashville, Olivia Cox of California, Grant Satterly of Springfield, Rachel Satterly of Lawrenceburg and Jenna Satterly of Lawrenceburg; seven great grandchildren, Evie Lacy, Cheyenne Phillips, Houston Phillips, James Penn, Jacob Penn, Charlie Baker and Danny Baker and three sisters, Mabel Whitmore of Indiana, Barbara Lyons (Tom) of Campbellsville and Brenda Cooksey (Harold “Bucky”) of Willisburg; a sister-in-law, Dianne Cheatham of Bagdad and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 13th at the Carey and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Hilary Claypool, officiating.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Satterly, Eric Satterly, Cody Baker, Grant Satterly, Brandon Penn and Ryan Penn.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Thursday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
