Roy Devine Byrd, age 89, of Chaplin, KY passed away at 2:35 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the Crestview Healthcare and Rehab Center in Shelbyville.
He was born in Nelson County on June 4, 1934 to the late Roy L. and Daisy Lee Chesser Byrd.
He was a member of the Willisburg Church of God of Prophecy and a retired employee of Armour Food Company.
Preceding him in death were four sisters, Lucille Lewis on December 1, 2005, Beulah Hellard on November 1, 2006, Necy Beavers on July 4, 2011 and Audrey Chesser on December 4, 2015 and a brother, Danny Dale Byrd on November 29, 2000.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Chesser Byrd; a daughter, Shannon Hardin (Anthony); two sons, William Byrd (Melissa) and Glenn D. Byrd (Theresa) all of Chaplin; six grandchildren, Blake Hardin, Ben Hardin, Quentin Byrd, Miranda Nally, Jessica Byrd and Ariel Krzeminski; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Crowe of Louisville and Faye Hardin (James) of Mackville and three brothers, Harold Byrd (Linda) of Lawrenceburg, Gerald Byrd of Chaplin and Gene Byrd (Dorothy) of Louisville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 16th at the Willisburg Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Mike Willingham, officiating.
Burial will be in the Brush Grove Cemetery at Willisburg.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Tuesday at the Willisburg Church of God of Prophecy and after 9:00 Wednesday morning until time of the service.
