Roger Lee Johnson

Roger Lee Johnson, age 79, of Springfield, KY passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 at his home.

He was born on October 15, 1945 in Louisville, KY to the late James and Frances Darnell Johnson.

Roger withdrew from high school to join the United States Army on April 20, 1964. He served in communication and artillery for eight years with an honorable discharge becoming a veteran. He worked for Crounse Corporation as Chief Engineer for thirty-eight years. On March 31st, 2003 he received his GED very proudly after a lot of hard work and determination.

Preceding him in death was his parents, brothers, Phillip, Larry, Delton, Gary and Gerald; a sister, Delores; a brother-in-law, Tommie Crouch and son-in-law, Michael McGavock.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Johnson; three daughters, Amanda (Bill)  Allen of Louisville, Melanie Johnson of Louisville and Marianna (Brian) Case of Bloomfield; two sons, Jamie (Stephanie) Carrico of Springfield and Brian Carrico (Karla) of Harrodsburg; ten grandchildren, Lane Gillenwater of Louisville, Jordan Wildt of Louisville, Zachary (Elizabeth) Carrico of Harrodsburg, Lucas (Camille) Carrico of Springfield, Seth Carrico, Johnethan (Jasmine) McGavock of Willisburg, Dalton (Kaelie) Carrico of Harrodsburg, Peyton (Blake) Carrico of Harrodsburg, JeAnna McGavock of Springfield and Jasmine McGavock of Bloomfield; five great grandchildren, Adrian Carrico and Bradley Carrico of Harrodsburg, Regan Carrico of Hazard, Cora Carrico of Springfield and Waylon Ordway of Shelbyville; three brothers, Howard Johnson of Costa Rica, Darrell (Theresa) Johnson of Upton and Doug Crouch of Florida; two sisters, Beverly (Ferrell) Wells of Indiana, Charlotte (David) Keeling of Louisville and a sister-in-law, Reva Johnson of Louisville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 6th at the Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church with Rev. Clay Stevens, officiating.

Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jordan Wildt, Peyton Carrico, JeAnna McGavock, Jasmine McGavock, Richard Buskirk, Lynn Keeling and Bill Allen.

Serving as casket bearers will be Lane Gillenwater, Zachary Carrico, Lucas Carrico, Seth Carrico, Johnethan McGavock and Dalton Carrico.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 5th from 5 until 8 at the Carey & Son Funeral Home and at the church after 9:30 Friday morning until time of the service.
