Peggy Lee Carpenter Teachey, age 76, of the Cardwell Community of Washington County, KY passed away Monday, October 6, 2025 at her home.
A native of Richmond, Virginia, she was born on January 27, 1949 to the late Russell Ray and Ardelle May Booker Carpenter.
She was a member of the Mt. Freedom Baptist Church, a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a retired employee of the University of Kentucky College of Nursing where she served as an assistant to an associate dean.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Gordon L. Teachey, Jr; her children, Gordon L. Teachey, III (Erin Mentzer) of Frankfort, Chris Teachey of Willisburg, Cynthia Byers of Louisville and Daniel W. Teachey of Worden, IL; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Russell Carpenter, Jr. of Richmond, VA and two special cousins, Paula Perkins of Wilmington, NC and Bobby Wiltshire of Richmond, Virginia.
In keeping with her wishes cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held Sunday, October 26th at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Freedom Baptist Church with Rev. Hillary Claypool, officiating.
All are welcome to attend the worship service with Peggy's family at Mt. Freedom Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., which will be followed with a gathering for family and friends where lunch will be served.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Mt. Freedom Baptist Church or Gideons International.
