Orville Lee Byrd

Orville Lee Byrd, age 87, of Bardstown, KY formerly of Willisburg, passed away at 8:15 p.m., Monday, July 15, 2024 at the Baptist Health in Louisville.

A native of Washington County, he was born on July 3, 1937 to the late Elmer Lee and Annie Frances Smith Byrd.

Orville and his family lived in Mt. Washington during his working years and following retirement he and his wife moved to Bardstown to be near their children. He was a member of the Mt. Washington Church of God and a retired automobile mechanic.

Preceding him in death were four brothers, Robert Lee Byrd on April 29, 1938, Curtis Earl Byrd on May 6, 1996, James E. Byrd on November 23, 2009 and William Amos Byrd on March 15, 2012.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Anne Wyatt Byrd; two daughters, Sue Lile (Larry) and Barbara Banks (Robert); three sons, Roger Byrd (Kim), Michael Byrd (Phyllis) and Doug Byrd (Taressa) all of Bardstown; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 18th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Leece, minister of the Fairdale Church of God, officiating.

Visitation will be after 10:00 Thursday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
