Norma Jean Bishop Sims, age 81, of Springfield, Kentucky passed away at 6:39 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at her home.
She was a native of Washington County, born on December 19, 1940 to the late Sterlin T. and Ramie V. Armstrong Bishop.
She was a member of the Willisburg Baptist Church, a 1958 graduate of Mackville High School, a retired Washington County bus driver and a retired caterer.
Preceding her in death was her husband, William Harvey Sims on March 1, 2006; a daughter, Tamra L. “Tammy” Sims O’Bryan on December 10, 2019; a granddaughter, Megan O’Bryan on January 27, 2022; two brothers, Gayron Lee Bishop on December 1, 1971 and Thomas Dewane Bishop on January 22, 2019; a sister, Anna Helen Carey on December 6, 2019 and her fiancé, Wendell Griffey on January 30, 2015.
Survivors include a son, Doug (Sherry) Sims of Willisburg; a daughter, Hallie (Lewis) Jewell of Bardstown; five grandchildren, Josh O’Bryan, Spencer (Jenna) Sims, Matthew (Jessie) Price, Ann Taylor Sims and Preston Price; three great grandchildren, Emily Grace Sims, Kate Sims and Kashton Price; two sisters, Wanda Ingram and Sheldia (Don) Sparks of Lexington and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 5th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Terry McIlvoy, officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Serving as pallbearers will be Spencer Sims, Matthew Price, Ann Taylor Sims, Preston Price, Chuck Smothers, Steve Carey and Craig Bishop.
Visitation will be after 10:00 Sunday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
