Nordy Votaw

James DeNorris “Nordy” Votaw, age 71, of Springfield, KY passed away at 9:50 p.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington.

He was born in Washington County on June 26, 1950 to the late Charles Robert “Chuck” and Mary Anne Greene Votaw.

He was an Army veteran and owned and operated Nordy’s Wrecker Service in Springfield for forty-two years.

Preceding him in death were two infant grandchildren, Marcus and Lucas Devine on October 11, 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Lanetta Lewis Votaw; three sons, Jonathan Votaw (Jessica), Charlie J. Votaw and Tristyn “Biscuit” Votaw all of Springfield; six daughters, Camille Votaw (Joe) of Lebanon, Sarah “Pooh” Votaw, Stacey Price, Ashley Votaw (Daniel) and Chasity Peyton all of Springfield and Tiffany Simmons (Danny) of New York; thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a brother, Charles R. “Butch” Votaw, Jr. of Florida.

Funeral services will be private for the immediate family only.

Burial will be on Cemetery Hill.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Greene, Clay Devine, Jeff Votaw, Randy Smith, Larry Milburn and Jamie Hardin.

Serving as casket bearers will be Ashley Votaw, Daniel Pevley, Chasity Peyton, Jonathan Votaw, Charlie J. Votaw, Kathy Briscoe and Shane Briscoe.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Thursday and from 8 until 11 Friday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
