Nellie Catherine (Barr) McIlvoy

Nellie Catherine Barr McIlvoy, age 81, of Walnut Street, Springfield, KY passed away at 7:40 a.m., Saturday, July 10, 2021 at her home after an illness.

A native of Washington County, she was born on September 19, 1939 to the late Raymond and Mary Lillian Yates Barr.

She was a member of the St. Dominic Catholic Church, a homemaker and a retired employee of Texas Instruments.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Charles B. “Charlie” McIlvoy on January 20, 1987, two sisters, Dorothy McIlvoy Cariel and Mary Rose Bohn and six brothers, William, Granville, Floyd, David, Arthur and Mike Barr.

Survivors include three sons, Terry McIlvoy (Teresa) of Springfield, Timmy McIlvoy (Ketrina) of Willisburg and Paul McIlvoy (Ginny) of Springfield; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Brenda Carrico of Springfield and two brothers, Donnie Barr of Springfield and Raymond Barr, Jr. (Bernice) of Manchester, TN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 Thursday, July 15th at the St. Dominic Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Hayden, officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be her ten grandchildren, Alex McIlvoy, Daniel McIlvoy, Brent McIlvoy, Nick McIlvoy, Phillip McIlvoy, Matthew McIlvoy, Sara McIlvoy Lewis, Logan McIlvoy, Cody McIlvoy and Charlie McIlvoy.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Wednesday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 Wednesday evening.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Spina Bifida Association of Kentucky.
