Michael Anthony Carney

Michael Anthony Carney, age 64, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at his home.

A native of Washington County, he was born October 19, 1960 in Lebanon, to the late Donald Archie and Mary Edith Weakley Carney.

He worked in the family business, the former Carney Store and Fertilizer in Mooresville.  He was a former employee of the Big Burley Tobacco Warehouse in Bloomfield, Washington County Farm Equipment and Humes Farm both in Mooresville.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, infant Johnnie Ray Carney on September 5, 1954 and Donald Ray Carney on December 26, 2017.

Survivors include his daughter, Rian Carney (Luke) of Springfield; three grandchildren, Ethan Bunch, Anthony Deringer and Laikynn Deringer; a brother, David Carney (Nancy) of Springfield and three sisters, Barbara Jones (Harold) of Louisville, Connie Marcum (Alfred) of LaGrange and Mary Russell (Joe) of Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 3rd at the New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Tobe Yankey, officiating. 

Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ethan Bunch, Anthony Deringer, Joe Ben Russell, John Carney, Kenny Cox and Nick Cox.

Visitation will be after 10:30 Thursday morning at the church.
