It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Melvina Thomas Roution, age 90 of Mackville, Kentucky. She passed away at 6:10 a.m., Monday morning, September 23, 2024 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.
She was born in Willisburg, KY on November 8, 1933 to the late Benjamin and Martha Alice Matherly Thomas.
She was a member of the Unity Baptist Church and spent her life as a homemaker, farmer and avid gardener of vegetables and flowers. She loved spending time in the kitchen cooking tasty meals. Her specialties were her homemade biscuits, homemade cakes, and her famous sweet tea. She enjoyed quilting and made many beautiful quilts for her family. She was a devoted Christian woman who taught Sunday school and sung in the church choir. Melvina was a wonderful caring mother, grandmother, and loyal friend.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Eugene Roution; two sons, Donald and Rocky Roution and a great grandson, Chase Roution.
Melvina is survived by one daughter, Darlene Roution Martin of Knoxville, TN; four sons, Jimmy G. Roution of Mackville, Ronald L. Roution of Lexington, William Doug Roution (Lola) of Mackville and Roger D. Roution of Bardstown; four grandsons, Jonathan Roution, Major Roution, Scott Roution and Joseph Roution; six granddaughters, Jennifer Roution Smith, Stephanie Roution, Wendy Roution, Kristin Roution, Skylar Martin and Audrey Martin; a daughter-in-law, Karen Roution of Mackville and numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 26th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jordan Simpson, officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scotty Roution, Major Roution, Joey Roution, Cameron Roution, Roger Roution, and Josh Martin.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Wednesday and after 8:00 Thursday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
