Mary Margaret (Grider) Matherly

Mary Margaret Grider Matherly, age 76, of Hillsboro Lane, Springfield, KY passed away at 5:08 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023 at her home after an illness.

She was born on November 26, 1946 in Lebanon, KY to the late James Otto and Roxie Raybourne Grider.

She was a member of the Willisburg Church of Christ, a 1964 graduate of Springfield High School and a graduate of Cincinnati Bible College. Mary Margaret was a registered nurse and served as a missionary nurse in New York City, Dallas Texas and for several years in Rhodesia. After returning from the mission field she worked at Spring View Hospital, Drs. Hamilton and Brown’s office and Sansbury Care Center.

Preceding her in death was her brother, James Walter Grider on March 20, 2011.

Survivors include her husband, Keith Matherly; her sister, Martha Dell Shewmaker of Springfield; nephews, Mark, Allen and Chris Shewmaker, Brian, Wesley and James Matherly and David Haddix and nieces, Roxanne Grider, Jamie Paradis, Brittany Matherly, Kayla Jo Haddix, Barbara Jo Humes, Sarah Beth Thompson, Laura Bradshaw and Kelly Matherly.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 4th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Charlie Blevins, officiating. He will be assisted by Bro. Tim Wells.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Monday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
