Margaret Louise Begley Tharpe, age 89, of Lexington, KY formerly of Harrodsburg, passed away at 8:24 a.m., Saturday, December 27, 2025 at the Mayfair Manor in Lexington.
She was a native of Washington County, born on December 16, 1936 to the late Joshua L. and Minnie Bell Lanham Begley.
She was a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church in Harrodsburg, was employed by several factories over the years including Cowden’s Manufacturing of Springfield and retired from Hallmack of Harrodsburg. She also worked as a senior care giver for several years.
Margaret had a great love for her children, family and animals.
Preceding her in death was a grandchild, Jeremy Dewayne Hardin; two great grandchildren, Gabrielle Allen Wray and Noah Ray Layman; a son-in-law, Larry Carman; two brothers, James Begley and J.T. Begley and six sisters, Judy Janes, Snoda Votaw, Mildred Burns, Edith Mae Begley, Myrtle Coulter Roution and Juanita Wilson.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Pinkston (Donna) of Snellville, IN; four daughters, Vickie Lou Carman of Hardinsburg, Patricia Hardin (Joe) of Springfield, Denise Jordan (John) and Sharon Alena Lewis (Rod) of Lexington; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 1st at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Chesser, officiating.
Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Rod Bobblitt, Shannon Hardin, Bethany Jordan and Joey Denise Orberson.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jamie Hardin, Brandon Hardin, Jerrod Dean, Trevor Pinkston, Collin Pinkston and Drew Jordan.
Visitation will be after 11:00 Thursday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
