Margaret Carlisle Pinkston, age 88, of Springfield, KY passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021.
A native of Washington County, she was born on November 27, 1932 to Edward Carlisle “Carl” and Anna Margaret “Annie” Crouch Pinkston. Margaret graduated from Springfield High School, and always enjoyed reading, and politics. She was often anticipating the new books to arrive at the Washington County Library. She enjoyed the opportunities she had to travel and had a special love for Ireland.
She was a longtime faithful member of the Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church and then the Springfield Presbyterian Church. She was a former bookkeeper for Pinkston Oil Company and a retired longtime bookkeeper for the Washington County Board of Education. Margaret loved her work and the people of Springfield. She was compassionate about the needs for animals of all kinds and for years she worked closely with the local animal shelter. She loved her dogs and cats, and would frequently be spotted walking her dogs all over town.
Her parents and her brother-in-law, Larry L. Simms, preceded her in death.
Margaret is survived by her sister, Nancy Pinkston Simms of Indianapolis; a nephew, Stephen Carlisle Simms and his wife, Jennifer of Bloomington, IN; a niece, Jennifer Simms Zorn and her husband, Bill of Indianapolis and two great nieces, Rebecca Carlisle and Rachel Kientzy Zorn.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m., Saturday, March 6th at the Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church with Rev. Clay Stevens, officiating. Visitation will begin after 1:00pm Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Simms, Bill Zorn, Charles Lee Hardesty, Jerry Pinkston, Tommy Osborne and Len Benedict.
