Margaret Glenda Jones

Margaret Glenda Jones, age 62, departed this life on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Texas Health Frisco in Dallas, Tx.  She was born on May 23, 1962 in Lebanon, Kentucky.  Glenda was a native of Springfield, KY and a lifelong resident of Lexington, KY until just before her untimely passing.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Joseph Gabe Wright and Mary Helen Wright, James Hodgens and Lula Belle Thompson Hodgens, her parents James William “Jack” and Mary Elizabeth “Tippy” Hodgens and a brother James Gable Hodgens. 

Glenda was raised in the Catholic faith and was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.  She was a graduate of the Washington County High School Class of 1980.  She spent many years working in medical insurance billing and claims management with Blue Cross-Blue Shield, University of Kentucky Medical, Baptist Health, and most recently Correct Care. 

Glenda leaves to mourn her passing:  Two sons, Douglas Eugene Elery (Dikiea) of Lexington, KY, Christopher Michael Elery of McKinney, TX, and a bonus daughter, Shauna Kazee (Rawl) of Georgetown, KY.   A sister Pam Brashear (Ronald) of Elizabethtown, KY.  Four brothers Steve Hodgens, of Bardstown KY, Timmy Hodgens (Genesia) of Campbellsville, KY, Terry Hodgens of Bardstown, KY, and Tony Hodgens (Brandi) of Springfield, KY. 

Glenda was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren: Douglas Davon Elery, Jaylyn Rae Adams, Chyanne Le’Nae Elery, Devaughn Eugene Elery, Asha Jamie Elery and two bonus grandchildren: Iyauna Ashanti’ Kazee and Isaiah Asante’ Kazee along with many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday morning July 13th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Carolyn Thompson officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 until time of the service at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
