Alton Leroy Thompson, age 73, of Springfield, KY passed away at 4:12 p.m., Friday, May 30, 2025 at the Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.
He was born on October 24, 1951 in Lebanon, KY to the late Alton and Mary Lee Newby Thompson.
He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a former truck driver and a retired employee of the Washington County Landfill.
Preceding him in death were two sisters, Vanessa Thompson and Rochelle Thompson and a nephew, Jordan Hickman.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Smalley Thompson; a son, Tony Churchill (JoAnn); a daughter, Octavia Hurrigan; two step-daughters, Michelle Thompson and Stacy Key all of Springfield; three sisters, Yolanda Lavender (Frank) of Louisville, Terri Hickman (Gary) and Crystal Yocum (Jeff) of Bardstown; two brothers, Robert Thompson (Delores Turner) of Springfield and Tyrone Thompson (Tanesha) of Louisville and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 4th at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Deacon Joe Dant, officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery,
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be William “Pookie” Key, Jeff Montgomery, Felix Keene, Thomas Smalley, Joseph McWhorter, Joey Porter, Roderick Smalley and Jeffrey Spalding.
Serving as casket bearers will be Stewart Churchill, Tyree Railey, Tristan Hayden, Justin Railey, Morgan Churchill and Shylan Key.
Visitation will be from 9 until 11 Wednesday morning at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
