William Leonard Mattingly, age 94, formerly of Springfield, KY passed away at 9:00 p.m., Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the Louisville East Post-Acute Care Center.
A native of Marion County, he was born at Loretto on January 1, 1929 to the late Joseph Robert “Bob” and Mary Bernadette Mattingly.
He was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church, an Air Force Veteran of World War II and spent his working career as a mason.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Audrey Milburn Mattingly; two sisters, Lucille Mattingly and Geraldine Milby and four brothers, J.C., Melvin, Paul and Spencer Mattingly.
Survivors include two daughters, Marsha Mattingly of Louisville and Brenda Mattingly of Raleigh, NC; three sons, Stanley Mattingly (Donna) and Kevin Mattingly of Louisville and Keith Mattingly (Robin) of Clarkson; two step-daughters, Sharon Tivener (Bill) of Brandenburg and Debbie Roye (Tim) of Aberdeen, MS; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 13th at the Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Tobe Yankey and Rev. Kyle Yankey, officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery at Loretto where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be at the church after 11:00 Wednesday morning.
