Leo Keeling Obituary

Leo Wathen Keeling, age 102, of Springfield, KY passed away at 9:45 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2026 at the Loretto Living Center in Loretto.

A native of Washington County, he was born on December 21, 1923 to the late Herbert Franklin and Eva Cheatham Keeling.

He was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and usher. A 1944 graduate of Springfield High School and a graduate of Bryant Stratton Business College.  He was a member of the Springfield Masonic Lodge # 50 F & AM and a Kentucky Colonel. Leo served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II and was a lifelong farmer in the Mooresville community.

Preceding him in death were his three brothers, David Woodrow Keeling, Eugene Wesley Keeling and John Edward Keeling.

Survivors include his wife of seventy-eight years, Elizabeth Robinson Keeling; a son, Buddy Keeling (Cathy); a daughter, Charlotte Greer (Ray); a sister-in-law, Sarah Ethel Keeling all of Springfield. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, a great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 17th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Aaron Sherrell officiating.

Burial will be on Cemetery Hill. Military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ray Greer, D.J. Keeling, Rob Keeling, Butch Keeling, Bill Robinson and David Humes.

Visitation will be after 9:00 Wednesday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Springfield Baptist Church.
