Kenneth Eugene “Bud” Yates, age 88, of Hillsboro Lane, Springfield, passed away at 12:50 a.m., Thursday, April 18, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
A native of Washington County, he was born on June 25, 1935 to the late William Thomas and Jessie Darnell Yates.
He was a member of Willisburg Christian Church, a member of the Magnolia Masonic Lodge # 201 F & AM at Mackville and a farmer.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Bessie Curtsinger Yates on October 3, 2018; a daughter, Susan Michelle Lake on August 14, 2004; two sons, Kenneth E. Yates, Jr. on September 14, 1987 and Jeffrey Darnell Yates on December 12, 2006; two grandchildren, Cari Yates on October 15, 1999 and Terry Lynn Yates, Jr. on September 13, 1979; three brothers, Joe, Tim and Harvey Yates and six sisters, Vena Stine, Nettie Lanham, Pearl Hawkins, Edna Wetherby, Mary Mattingly and Margaret Mercer.
Survivors include four daughters, Pam Akins (Philip) and Marilyn Walls (Johnny) of Lawrenceburg, Jennifer Edelen of Springfield and Jackie Devers (Brent) of Willisburg; two sons, Terry Yates (Teresa) of Harrodsburg and Daniel Ray Yates of Mackville; twenty-one grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and one sister, Betty Royalty of Springfield.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 23rd at the Willisburg Christian Church with Bro. Lance Ladd, the church minister, officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Serving as pallbearers will be Darrell Derringer, Johnny Yates, Mike Shields, Doug Sims, Tony Mobley and Brian Calvert.
A masonic service will be held at 7:00 Monday evening at the Willisburg Christian Church with Billy Riggs delivering the eulogy.
Visitation will be at the Willisburg Christian Church on Monday from 2 until 8 and after 8:00 Tuesday morning.
