Kay (Russell) Burkhead

Kay Russell Burkhead, age 91, of Springfield, KY passed away at 10:40 p.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at the Springfield Nursing & Rehab Center.

A native of Washington County, she was born on July 12, 1933 to the late Everett Vernon and Mattie Kate Coyle Russell.

She was a member of the Mackville Baptist Church, a 1952 graduate of Mackville High School and a retired housekeeping supervisor of Medco Center of Springfield.

On May 12, 1956 she was united in marriage to Bruce Evans Burkhead, he preceded her in death on July 30, 2015. Also, preceding her in death was a granddaughter, Treva Kay Angulo on June 21, 2020 and three brothers, William Martin Russell on February 8, 2016, Everett Lee Russell on December 22, 2020 and Bobby Clifton Russell on December 2, 2022.

Survivors include her son, Russell Burkhead (Lisa) of Springfield; her daughter, Ethelyn Angulo of Versailles; six grandchildren, Kyle Burkhead, Evan Blake Burkhead, Matthew Burkhead, Joshua Burkhead, Ryan Angulo and Phillip Angulo; six great grandchildren and a sister, Frances Yaste of Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 9th at the Mackville Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Miller, officiating.    

Burial will be in the Peter Cemetery at Mackville.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Burkhead, Phillip Angulo, Kevin Russell, Jeff Russell, Billy Hilton, Jordan Settles and Jacob Settles.

Serving as casket bearers will be Evan Blake Burkhead, Matthew Burkhead, Josh Burkhead, James Clifton Yaste, Terry Russell and Bobby Lee Russell.

Visitation will be after 10:00 Friday morning at the Mackville Baptist Church.
