Joyce Ann (Burkhead) Phillips

Joyce Ann Burkhead Phillips, age 82, of Willisburg, KY passed away at 10:43 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at the Village of Lebanon Nursing Home.

A native of Washington County, she was born on November 14, 1941 to the late Otis Y. and Lizzie Florence Chesser Burkhead.

She was a member of the Willisburg Church of God of Prophecy, a homemaker and a former employee of Wheaton’s of Springfield and Hallmack of Harrodsburg. Following retirement Joyce worked in private in-home nursing care.

Preceding her in death was her husband, John C. Phillips on March 23, 2019; a brother, Sterling Burkhead on April 25, 2006 and a sister, Mildred Lawson on January 21, 2001.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Carla Hardin of Willisburg; her granddaughter Haley Hardin (Matthew Benedict) of Willisburg and a sister, Wilma Katherine Burkhead of Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 9th at the Willisburg Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Mike Willingham and Rev. Keith Creech, officiating.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.

Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Benedict, Donnie Burkhead, Stephen Lawson, Aaron Lawson, Justin Coulter and Anthony Laymance.

Visitation will be from 4:30 until 8:00 Saturday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home and after 12:30 Sunday at the Willisburg Church of God of Prophecy.
