Joseph Eugene “Joe Gene” Walker

Joseph Eugene “Joe Gene” Walker, age 72, of Lebanon, KY formerly of Springfield, passed away at 7:20 a.m., Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

He was born February 29, 1952 in Lebanon to the late Charles David and Bettie Edelen Walker.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a former horse trainer and retired brick layer.

Preceding him in death was a step-son, Mark Anthony Spalding and two sisters, Donna Coulter on October 28, 2020 and Mary Katherine Hickman on June 26, 2024.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Anna Miller Walker; a step-son, William E. Spalding, Jr. (Monica Bell) of Lebanon; two step-grandchildren; two brothers, Billy Walker (Wanda) of Marion, Ohio and Herbert Walker of Tyler, Texas; five sisters, Barbara Smith (Ralph), Joyce Thomas and Mildred Walker, all of Louisville, Juanita Walker Moore of Bardstown and Denise Linton (Steve) of Springfield.     

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 26th, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Pier Giorgio Dengler officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be William Spalding, DeAndre Walker, Reggie Weathers, Carl Burton, Christopher Tucker and Brandon Coulter.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Friday and after 8:00 Saturday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.

A prayer service will be held Friday at 7:00 p.m.
