Johnnie Dale Byrd, age 60, of Springfield, KY passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville. A lifelong resident of the Washington and Nelson County area, Johnnie was most recently a resident of Springfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Shelby County on December 6, 1964 to the late John Richard and Francis Allen Byrd. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, several aunts and uncles and a nephew, David Lewis.
Johnnie will be fondly remembered for his warm personality, love of fishing and snagging, and his unwavering passion for UK Basketball. His sense of humor and kindhearted nature endeared him to everyone he met.
He was a dedicated worker and was most recently employed at NPR in Bardstown. Before that, he worked for Sysco Food Systems, where his reliability and work ethic were highly regarded.
He is survived by his son, Brandon Byrd of Bardstown; two devoted sisters, Penny Lewis and her husband, Bruce of Willisburg and Connie Hardin and her husband, Tim of Springfield; a cherished nephew, Daniel Hardin. Johnnie also leaves behind many other relatives and countless friends who will treasure his memory.
In keeping with his wishes cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, December 21st at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Tim Hardin, officiating.
Inurnment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Johnnie’s warmth, humor and love for life will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Visitation will be from 9:00 Saturday morning until time of the service at 11:30 at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
