John Leland Spalding, age 67, of Springfield, KY passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at his farm while enjoying his favorite, fishing.
A native of Fern Creek, KY he was born on August 27, 1958 to the late John Leland and Jane Livers Spalding.
John was a retired employee of White Castle Manufacturing, a graduate of Fern Creek High School and attended the University of Louisville.
John enjoyed music and participated as a bell ringer at St. Dominic’s. He was known for his great sense of humor, being big hearted and a kind spirit to his many friends. Although John enjoyed visiting with his friends, he truly favored the company of his chocolate Lab and companion, Mousse.
Surviving him is his wife of twenty-five years, Jeanette Hase-Spalding; his son, Christopher of New Albany, IN; his daughters, Stephanie of Louisville and Cynthia of Alaska; a brother, Joe Spalding of Overland Park, Kansas; his two sisters, Barbara Bryum of Maryville, TN and Mary Cook of Louisville.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation was chosen and a celebration of life will be held later.
