John Edward Keeling, age 98, of Springfield, KY passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025 in Springfield. A native of Washington County, born on March 22, 1926 to the late Herbert Franklin and Eva Cheatham Keeling.
He was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church, a graduate of Springfield High School, a navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Springfield Masonic Lodge # 50 F & A.M.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Eugene Wesley Keeling on September 19, 2004 and Lt. Col. David Woodrow Keeling on January 21, 2014.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Ethel Homan Keeling; a son, John Joe Keeling (Cindy) of Lexington; a daughter, Dr. Julia Keeling Brown (Chris) of Springfield; four grandchildren, Jonathon Keeling (Julie), Chris Keeling, Sarah Daly (Patrick) and John Patrick Brown; four great grandchildren, Jack, Nate and Morgan Keeling and John Edward Daly; one brother, Leo Keeling (Elizabeth) of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 18th at the Springfield Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Greer, officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Clay Stevens.
Inurnment will be on Cemetery Hill where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Springfield Baptist Church, The Springfield Presbyterian Church or The Mid-Kentucky Chorus.
Visitation will be from 1 until 3 Tuesday at the Springfield Presbyterian Church.
Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
