John Edward "Edgie" Hooper

John Edward “Edgie” Hooper, age 74, of Richmond, KY formerly of Springfield, passed away at 1:50 p.m., Thursday, June 17, 2026 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington.

He was born in Lebanon, KY on October 21, 1951 to the late Marshall and Mary Elizabeth Curtsinger Hooper.

He was a retired employee of Armour Food Company of Springfield.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Mildred Ann Hooper on Jan. 14, 2016 and two brothers, Ronnie Raymond Hooper on Nov. 10, 2017 and Joseph Franklin “Frankie” Hooper on May 16, 2026.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Faye Bricken Hooper; a daughter, Karen Taylor (Josh) of Richmond; two sons, John Thomas Hooper (Donna) of Lebanon and Terry Michael Hooper of Richmond and three grandchildren, Ethan Green, Taylor Green and Chloe Mattingly.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 20th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. John McDaniel, officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Ricky Cheatham.

Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be John Hooper, Ethan Green, Josh Taylor, Billy Hooper, Jr., David Lee Hooper and Jacob Cocanougher.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 Friday and after 8:00 Saturday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
