JoAnne M. (Higgins) Lehr

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of JoAnne M. Higgins Lehr, who left us tragically on February 15, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on August 4, 1945, in New York City to the late Edmund and Margaret Jones Higgins, JoAnne lived a life full of love, laughter, and kindness. She spent her life doing for others  

She is survived by her devoted husband, Conrad William Lehr; her loving daughters, Michelle Lehr of Springfield, KY, and Cynthia Lehr of Bay Shore, New York; a granddaughter, Jamie Perkins and her precious great-granddaughter, Aria Rainn Perkins, who brought her endless joy. JoAnne's family was her world, and she found immense happiness in their company.

JoAnne had a gift for connection she never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, quickly turning acquaintances into friends. Her warmth and generosity made her a beloved presence in every community she called home. She lived her life to care for others, that is where she found the most joy.  

She had a passion for animals, always finding a way to care for and love them. She also found great joy in bargain hunting, cooking, and spending time with her homemakers club. A proud and devoted fan of the New York Rangers, she never missed a chance to cheer on her team.

Honoring JoAnne's wishes, she has been cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date, where her family and friends can gather to celebrate her beautiful life. Carey & Son Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

JoAnne's kindness, humor, and boundless love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
