James Lillard “Jim” Smith, age 71, of Springfield, KY passed away Saturday morning, October 8, 2022 at his home.
He was born in Lebanon on September 11, 1951 to the late Jean Hatchett and Lillard Smith, Jr.
He was a member of the Mackville Baptist Church, a member of the Magnolia Masonic Lodge # 201 F & AM at Mackville and served for many years as a director on the Peter Cemetery Board at Mackville.
Jim was the retired owner and operator of Jim Smith Trucking and Jim Smith’s Farm Supplies at Mackville.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Mary Jane Scott on July 16, 2018 and two brothers, William Alan Smith on October 27, 1994 and Joseph Franklin “Joe” Smith on July 4, 2016.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Mary Alice O’Bryan Smith; three daughters, Jaime Stumph (Jamie) of Harrodsburg, Kim Harmon (Stacy) and Kelly Staser (James) of Springfield; a son, Slade Smith (Nikki) of Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren, Landon Smith, Emily Smith, William Smith, John Harmon, Samuel Harmon, Baylah Staser and Vann Staser; a brother, John Smith of Mackville and a sister, Dawn Pettus (Bill) of Springfield.
In keeping with his wishes cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 14th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Nelson Reynolds, officiating.
A private burial will be held later at the Peter Cemetery at Mackville.
Visitation will be after 10:00 Friday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
