Jewell Dean Carney Lawson, age 92, of the Mooresville Community of Washington County, passed away at 4:16 a.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021 at her home.
A native of Washington County, she was born on August 29, 1929 to the late John Francis and Nancy Ann Pile Carney.
She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, a 1948 graduate of Springfield High School and a homemaker.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Norman Edward Lawson on June 24, 1995; four sisters, Elizabeth Rose Carney, Charlotte Janes, Margaret Hardin and Ella Mae Morris and five brothers, Leon, Garland, J.L., Charles and Donald Carney.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Balentine of Borden, IN; a son, Douglas Lawson (Brenda Heavin) of Coatesville, IN; two grandchildren, Denise Balentine-Womack (Michael) and Jonathan Balentine (Kay); two step great grandchildren; her twin sister, Uelline Jackson of Springfield and two brothers, Howard Carney (Reva) of Springfield and Billy Carney (Pat) of Bardstown.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 4th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Tobe Yankey, officiating.
Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Carney, Garrett Jackson, Gary Lawson, Rick Lawson, Sherman Blankenship and Denny Lawson.
Visitation will be from 3 until 7 Friday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to, Hosparus or the New Hope Cemetery Fund.
