Jerry Darland

Gerald Dean “Jerry” Darland, age 88, of Springfield, KY passed away at 12:15 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2024 at his home.

A native of Washington County, he was born on August 30, 1936 to the late Alvie B. and Ruby Mae Coulter Darland.

He attended the University Heights Church of Christ in Lexington and was retired employee of the General Electric Company.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Donna Faye Baker Darland on February 8, 2016; a daughter, Angela Jo Darland on October 19, 1965, a sister, Dorval Joyce Hurst on May 20, 2020 and his step-father, Ralph Willis on June 28, 2008.

Survivors include a son, Monte Darland (Darla) of Conroe, Texas; a daughter, Joan Cain (Joe) of Springfield; five grandchildren, Jon-Michael Cain, Jordan Abell (Jon-Erik), Conner Ryan Darland, Joseph Cain (Natalie) and Josh Cain; two great grandchildren, Madeline-Jane Abell and Caleb Darland; a brother, Carolton B. Darland, Sr. of Louisville and a sister, Pamela Smith of Lexington.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 28th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Raymond Castillo, officiating.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Conner Darland, Glen Devine, Jon-Michael Cain, Todd Darland, Julio Burgos and Donald Coulter.

Serving as casket bearers will be Joseph Cain, Josh Cain, Jon-Erik Abell, Mark “Zippo” Spalding, Carolton “Bud” Darland, Jr. and Jason Davis.

Visitation will be after 10:00 Saturday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
