James Edward Thompson, age 80, of Willisburg, passed away at 5:50 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at his home.
A native of Washington County he was born on July 14, 1942 to the late Elmo and Sarah Jane Chesser Thompson.
He was a member of the Brush Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a retired mechanic and a farmer.
Preceding him in death was his first wife, Peggy Lou Curtsinger Thompson on November 18, 1994, a son, Clinton Dale Thompson on June 13, 2019, and a brother Harvey Randle “Randy” Thompson on October 5, 2019.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Arnold Thompson; a daughter, Vanda Simpson and her husband Mark of Willisburg; a son, James Wyland (Crystal) of Willisburg; a daughter-in-law, Bobbi-Lynn Thompson of Springfield; five grandchildren, Chris Price, Candace Price, Lexi Thompson, Kim Beazley and Summer Beazley; 3 great grandchildren, Greyson Price, Adelynn Grace Price and Paisley Grace Sias; a brother, Lonnie Thompson and his wife, Joyce and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Thompson, all of Springfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 5th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Everett Hood, pastor of the Brush Grove Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Serving as pallbearers will be Donnie Hale, Jessie Carney, Jeff Bishop, Larry Scott, Nathaniel Sias and David Hardin.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Allen Montgomery, Charles Chesser, Troy Jenkins, Tracey Thompson, Randall Thomas and Wendell Eby.
Visitation will be from 2 until 8 Sunday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
