James Hubert “Jimmy” Cocanougher, age 86, of Springfield, KY passed away at 6:43 p.m., Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.
He was born in Boyle County on May 10, 1935 to the late Cecil and Irene Edwards Cocanougher.
He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church and a graduate of Springfield High School. He owned and operated Margaret’s Country Cooking Restaurant in Springfield for over twenty years.
Preceding him in death was his first wife, Jane Reynolds Cocanougher on July 13, 1984; a granddaughter, Allison Cocanougher on August 26, 1983; a great granddaughter, Natalie Lynn Durling on November 14, 2021 and a son-in-law, Gene Caudill on September 16, 2015.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Sagrecy Cocanougher; three sons, Travis Cocanougher (Tammy) of Springfield, Tim Cocanougher (Ruth Ann) of Bardstown and Timmy Hardin (Cindi) of Springfield; two daughters, Lisa Rigazio (Don) of Louisvillle and Angela Caudill of Springfield; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and one sister, Beulah Jones (Bill) of Danville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 2nd at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. John McDaniel, officiating.
Burial will be in the Beech Grove Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Bartley, Brian Lanham, Matthew Cocanougher, Ben Cocanougher, Chris Simons and John Hamilton.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Tuesday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
