Howard Wathen Carney, age 82, of the Mooresville Community of Washington County, KY passed away at 4:10 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at the Springfield Nursing & Rehab Center.
A native of Washington County, he was born on August 28, 1939 to the late John Francis and Nancy Ann Pile Carney.
He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, a 1958 graduate of Springfield High School and a retired employee of the Phillip Morris Tobacco Company of Louisville.
Preceding him in death were five sisters, Elizabeth Rose Carney, Ellamae Morris, Charlotte Janes, Margaret Hardin and Jewell Lawson and five brothers, Leon, Garland, J.L., Charles and Donald Carney.
Survivors include his wife, Reva Ann George Carney; two daughters, Sherry Johnson (James) of Whitesburg and DeeAnna Washburn (James) of Springfield; three sons, Roger Carney of Douglasville, GA; Brian Carney and Joe Brantley (Joan) of Springfield; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Uelline Jackson of Greencastle, IN and a brother, Billy Carney (Pat) of Bardstown.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 19th at the New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Tobe Yankey, the church pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Charlie E. Hahn, Mike Jones, David Humes, David Carney, John Carney and Dale Carney.
Visitation will be from 4-8 Friday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home and after 10:00 Saturday morning at the church.
