Obituary

Glenn Martin Derringer, age 85, of the Thompsonville Community of Washington County, passed away at 3:12 p.m., Monday, October 25, 2021 in Louisville at the home of his granddaughter.

A native of Washington County, he was born on March 17, 1936 to the late James Erastus “J.E.” and Walsie Shewmaker Derringer.

He was a member of the Mackville United Methodist Church, a 1954 graduate of Mackville High School and a retired employee of General Electric after thirty-five years of service.

Preceding him in death were two sisters, Lula Ellen Derringer on January 5, 1925 and Betty Jane Schalck on February 19, 2012 and three brothers, Harry Derringer, Sr. on December 18, 1983, Madison Derringer on March 19, 2003 and Richard Derringer on December 17, 2019.

Survivors include his daughter, Tina Marie Shemwell (James) of Louisville; two grandchildren, Kristi Carmickle (Chad) and Lauren Shemwell and two great grandchildren, Cheyanne Carmickle and Brooklyn Carmickle.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 28th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Goss, pastor of the Thompsonville Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in the Peter Cemetery at Mackville.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Derringer, Darrell Derringer, Jimmy Derringer, Mike Robertson, Chad Carmickle and Owen Colvin.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 Wednesday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to, The Hillsboro Cemetery.

Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
