George Ellis Cheatham

George Ellis Cheatham, age 80, of Gravel Switch, KY passed away at 12:46 p.m., Sunday, March 22, 2026 at his home.

A native of Washington County, he was born on November 26, 1945 to the late Grundy and Anna Mae Benham Cheatham.

He was a graduate of Willisburg High School, attended the University of Kentucky, a former teacher and electrician and was of the Christian faith.

Preceding him in death was a son, Quintin Cheatham; a granddaughter, Kaylee Cheatham and two sisters, Corine Votaw and Lavenia Mae Mattingly.

Survivors include his two daughters, Shannon Cheatham of Lexington and Tracy Cheatham of Gravel Switch; a grandson, Jayden Shackelford, and his former wife, Mary Crawford of Lexington.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 27th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.  

Burial will be in the Cheatham Family Cemetery at Forkland.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Thursday and after 8:00 Friday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
