Francis Anthony “Tony” Clements, age 88, of Springfield, KY passed away at 2:19 a.m., Monday, February 23, 2026 at the Bardstown Health & Rehab Center.
A native of Washington County, he was born on June 22, 1937 to the late Frank K. and Margaret Mary Montgomery Clements.
He was a member of the St. Dominic Catholic Church, a graduate of St. Joe Prep School and St. Catharine College.
Tony was an avid baseball fan and played in the minor league for the San Francisco Giants one year. He was an employee of the former Nally and Mudd and Nally and Wheatley Dealership in Springfield and retired from Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Betty Ann Yates Clements on August 7, 2016; two sisters, Martha Jeannine “Nene” Clements on Sept. 11, 2008 and Margaret Faye Martin on April 8, 2022 and a brother, Thomas Richard “Dickie” Clements on Jan. 11, 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Clements (Susan) of Floyds Knobs, IN and Larry Clements of Springfield; three daughters, Lisa Shewmaker (Jeff) of Mackville, Sherry Clements of Springfield and Toni Edlin (Greg) of Hodgenville; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and is expecting a great great grandchild; a sister, Mary Lou Wimpsett of Frankfort and two brothers, Jack Clements (Sara) of Bardstown and Frank Clements (JoAnn) of Louisville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 25th at the St. Dominic Catholic Church with Rev. Culpepper Elliott, officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Clements, Robert Clements, Caleb Clements, Landon Clements, Thomas Hoppes, Lucas Durham, Alec Edlin and Marc Edlin.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Tuesday and after 8:00 Wednesday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
A prayer service will be led by Deacon Rick Fagan at 7:00 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
