Ernest Reed Goff, age 93, of Willisburg, KY passed away at 9:15 p.m., Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Village of Lebanon Nursing Home.
He was born in Nelson County on July 3, 1928 to the late Raymond and Nora Young Goff.
He was a member of the Willisburg Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, a member of the J. Speed Smith Masonic Lodge # 298 F.& A.M. at Willisburg, he was a member of the former Willisburg Lions Club and was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.. As a carpenter Ernest built many homes in Washington and surrounding counties, he was also a farmer and was the longest serving county magistrate having served for forty-three years.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Marian Jane Skimerhorn Goff on August 1, 2016 and his sister, Mildred Stratton on October 24, 2020.
Survivors include a nephew, Gary Reed Stratton of Frankfort; a niece, Carol Cook and her husband, Lynn; a great niece, Lauren Chenault and her husband, Justin; a great nephew, Chris Skimerhorn all of Louisville; numerous cousins and a good friend, Timothy Stine and his wife, Judy of Willisburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 15th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. J.W. Hatfield, officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. John McDaniel.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg where military honors will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Serving as pallbearers will be Timothy Stine, Terry Boblitt, David Hardin, Charles Russell, Paul Cooksey and Ronnie Noel.
Visitation will be from 4:30 until 8 Tuesday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers you may make contributions to the Willisburg Cemetery.
A masonic service will be held at 6:30 Tuesday evening at the funeral Home.
