Ella Joyce Montgomery, age 72, formerly of Springfield, KY passed away at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 17, 2024 at the Village of Lebanon Nursing Home.
She was born in Lebanon, Ky on November 15, 1952 to the late John Frank and Georgia Ella Weathers Montgomery.
She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a 1971 graduate of Washington County High School, a 1973 graduate of St. Catharine College and a 1975 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University.
Ella Joyce spent her working career as a social worker with the State of Kentucky, Catholic Charities, Communicare and the Kentucky Baptist Homes For Children. She had a great passion for music, during the 70’s Ella Joyce began a side career as a disc jockey a work she continued many years following retirement in the Springfield and surrounding communities known as “E.J. the D.J.”.
Survivors include one uncle, Dee Weathers of Louisville, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, November 22nd at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Pier Giorgio Dengler, O.P., officiating.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Tina Keene, Chastity Keene, Tanesha Keene, Jamiah Keene, Lisa Haydon, Mary Farrand O’Nan, Betsy Bryant, Donald Wayne “Red” Jenkins and Jim Bowman.
In keeping with her wishes cremation will follow the funeral services and her cremains will be inurned at the St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church after 8:00 Friday morning.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Alzheimer's Association Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter or Hosparus Health of Green River.
