Edward Leyman Newton, age 79, of Shepherdsville, KY formerly of Springfield, passed away at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the Norton Pavilion in Louisville.
A native of Washington County, he was born on March 10, 1943 to the late William Spencer and Martina Wheatley Newton.
He was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, a 1961 graduate of Fredericktown High School and a retired employee of General Electric Company.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Nancy Malina Jayne and a brother, William M. “Bill” Newton.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Kevin Newton (Melissa) of Charlestown, IN and William Edward “Bill” Newton (Sheila) of Louisville; a daughter, Mary Lynn Newton of Louisville; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Dunn of Florida and Hilda Keenan (Dale) of Louisville and two brothers, John Newton of Springfield and Mark Newton of Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 28th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Terry L. Langford, pastor of the St. Aloysius Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Rose Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Newton, Daniel Newton, Jacob Newton, Brad Perkins, Charles McCombs, Jr. and Jeff Whitney.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Monday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
