Dudley Tapp

Dudley Tapp, age 88, of Goatley Lane, Springfield, KY passed away at 9:10 a.m., Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at his home.

A native of Washington County, he was born on October 1, 1932 to the late William Jefferson “Bill” and Berry Litsey Thompson Tapp.

He was a member of the Springfield Christian Church where he served as an elder, a 1952 graduate of Springfield High School, an army veteran of the Korean War and a retired farmer.

Preceding him in death was a grandson, Timothy M. Russell on December 10, 2006; a brother, Sterling T. Tapp on January 21, 2011 and two sisters, Nell Litsey Tapp on March 11, 1938 and Berry Varble on November 29, 2018.

Survivors include his wife Georgia Mae Mattingly Tapp; two daughters, Lena Russell of Springfield and Eleanor Broaddus (Bob) of Richmond; a son, Charles Dudley Tapp (Shirley) of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Melissa Flannery (Scott), Elizabeth Raley (Jody), Joseph Tapp (Christy), Thomas Tapp (Miriam), Sarah Smith (Dylan), Chad Broaddus (Allison) and Phillip Broaddus (Katrina); eight great grandchildren and three brothers, William Tapp of Elizabethtown, Dr. Jimmy Tapp (Dee) of Elizabethtown and Jack Tapp (Gayla) of Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 21st at the Springfield Christian Church with Rev. John McDaniel, officiating. He will be assisted by Bro. Roland Youmans.

Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Mike Murphy, Glen Hall, Leon Yaste, Ralph Tennill, Bill Devine, Billy Hilton, Barry Peavler, John Zeurcher and John Parker Wharton.

Serving as casket bearers will be Joseph Tapp, Thomas Tapp, Phillip Broaddus, Dylan Smith, Scott Flannery and Jody Raley.

Visitation will be after 11:00 Friday morning at the Springfield Christian Church.

Contributions may be made to Camp Calvary.
