Dr. John Taylor Isaacs, Sr.

Dr. John Taylor Isaacs, Sr., age 87, of Springfield, KY passed away Monday, March 6, 2023 at his home.

Dr. Isaacs shared his life and is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sally Lancaster Isaacs. He is also survived by three children, Ann Grider (Joe), Dr. John T. Isaacs, Jr. and Joe Isaacs (Michelle); nine grandchildren, Rachael Hayes (Brad), Dr. John “Jack” Grider, Maggie Isaacs, JT Isaacs, Robert Isaacs, Cleo Isaacs, Will Isaacs, Sam Isaacs and Logan Isaacs and two great grandchildren, Willa and Rory Hayes.

An advocate of education, Dr. Isaacs was a 1953 graduate of Lebanon High School, a 1957 graduate of Centre College and a 1961 graduate of the University of Louisville College of Dentistry.

Dr. Isaacs began his dental career by proudly serving in the U.S. Army at Ft. Benning, GA. In 1963, he moved his young family to Springfield and began practicing dentistry. Dr. Isaacs served the Springfield and Washington County community faithfully for forty years. He was honored to have his son, John T. Isaacs, Jr., join the family practice in 1988.

Service to his community was always a priorty. Dr. Isaacs was a member of the Springfield City Council, Springfield Chamber of Commerce, Springfield Water Board and a longtime member of the Springfield Rotary Club where he was honored to serve as a president.

Dr. Isaacs was dedicated to his church, his family and his community but he also got a great sense of enjoyment from playing golf. He truly loved the game of golf. He was an active member of the Lincoln Homestead Men’s Golf Association and served as a former president.

Above all, Dr. Isaacs will be remembered as a true gentleman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday morning, March 9th at the St. Dominic Catholic Church with Father David Ferrell as celebrant. Concelebrating will be Father Trumi Culpepper Elliott and Father Joseph F. Hayden.

Burial will be in the St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. John “Jack” Grider, JT Isaacs, Robert Isaacs, Will Isaacs, Sam Isaacs and Logan Isaacs.

Visitation will be from 4:30 until 8 Wednesday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the St. Dominic Catholic Church of the Springfield Presbyterian Church.
