Donald William Phillips, age 86, of Springfield, KY passed away at 11:01 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2024 at his home after an illness.
He was born in Shelbyville, Indiana on October 17, 1937 to the late James Ervin and Stella McDonald Phillips.
He was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church, a retired employee of the General Electric Company of Louisville and served fourteen years in the National Guard.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Florene Coulter Phillips on September 24, 2011; a son, Gary Phillips on April 24, 1959; a sister, Dorothy Mae Brockman; three brothers, James Jr. Phillips, Paul Phillips and Larry Phillips; a half-sister, Frances Settles and two half-brothers, Harold Palmer and Morris Palmer.
Survivors include a son, Billy Phillips (Tammy) of Springfield; two daughters, Tina Fenwick of LaGrange and Sherri Edelen (Pat) of Louisville; three grandchildren, John Phillips, Lindsay Wannall (Matt) and Brooke Edelen; four great grandchildren, Aaron Phillips, Karson Phillips, River Wannall and Jacqueline Edelen; two sisters, Betty Joann Hardin and Ruth Bailey both of Harrodsburg and a special friend and brother-in-law, Georgie Coulter of Springfield.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 16th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. John McDaniel, officiating. He will be assisted by Bro. Roland Youmans.
Burial will be on Cemetery Hill.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Phillips, Georgie Coulter, Frankie Coulter, Timmy Coulter, Brandon Matherly and Dewayne Hall.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Sunday and after 8:00 Monday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
