David Allen Matherly

David Allen Matherly, age 70, of Springfield, KY passed away at Monday, 7:40 p.m., September 25, 2023 at the Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.

He was born on July 16, 1953 in Harrodsburg to George Vernon and Wanda Lee Shewmaker Matherly.

He was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church, a 1971 graduate of Washington County High School, a graduate of Western Kentucky University and was retired from Gold Star Printing.

Preceding him in death was his father, George V. Matherly on April 27, 2016 and his sister, Susan Carol Wood on December 11, 2007.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Acosta Matherly; his daughter, Allison Matherly (Jeffrey Noble) of Miami, FL; four grandchildren, Heron, Hue, Jupiter and Jude Noble; his mother, Wanda Matherly of Springfield; a niece, Kristin Flenniken (Rob) of San Francisco and a nephew, Matthew Wood (Olivia) of North Carolina.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 28th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Warren Whitaker and Rev. David Ferrell, officiating.

Burial will be in the Peter Cemetery at Mackville.

Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Matherly, Jerry Matherly, Jimmy Hurst, John Smith, Kenny Hardin, Mike Elliott, Steve Hardin and Todd Kelty.

Visitation will be after 10:00 Thursday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
