Curtis Thompson, age 80, of Settles Lane, Springfield, passed away Friday afternoon, July 29, 2022 at his farm.
A native of Washington County, he was born on September 19, 1941 to the late Frank Avery and Maggie Benham Thompson.
He was a member of the Willisburg Church of God of Prophecy and a farmer.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Dorothey Hood Thompson on March 7, 2022, a son, Timothy Darrell Thompson on January 17, 2017 and his brother, William E. “Buddy” Thompson on June 28, 2013.
Survivors include three sons, Anthony Thompson (Amy) and David Thompson (Jackie) of Springfield and Bruce Thompson (Dana) of Mayodan, NC; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren and a sister, Darlene Shields (Mike) of Chaplin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 1st at the Willisburg Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Mike Willingham, a former pastor, officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Harold Best.
Burial will be in the Brush Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday, July 31st from 4 until 8 at the Carey & Son Funeral Home then again after 9:30 a.m. Monday morning at the church.
