Cloyd Oaks, Jr., age 84, of Louisville, KY passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at his home.
A native of Lincoln County, Kentucky he was born on September 25, 1936 to the late Cloyd, Sr. and Isabella Pence Oaks.
He was a graduate of Lincoln County High School and had a masters degree from the University of Louisville in Special Education. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War and a retired assistant superintendent for residential services for the Kentucky School For The Blind.
Preceding him in death was a granddaughter, Brianna Lynn “Bri” Terry; a brother, Leonard Oaks and two sisters, Isabella Carter and Edna Jean Bailey.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Kirsch Oaks; two sons, Cloyd T. Oaks of Louisville and James Terry of Willisburg; five grandchildren, James, Joshua and Jessica Oaks, Jennifer Markwell (Tim) and Julia Ann Terry and three great grandchildren, Karsten, Luke and Isabella Egner.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 15th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. J.W. Hatfield, officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Rand, Lowell Keeton, Joshua Oaks, James Oaks, Robert Mitchell and Tim Markwell.
Visitation will be after 11:00 Monday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home, 216 East Main Street, Springfield, KY 40069
