Charles Hubert Lewis, age 88, of Springfield, KY passed away at 4:16 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2025 at his home.
A native of Washington County, he was born on April 15, 1936 to the late Hubert and Mary Cornish Lewis.
He was a member of the Springfield Presbyterian Church and a member of the J. Speed Smith Masonic Lodge # 298 F & AM. Charles was a graduate of Willisburg High School and attended the University of Louisville. He was a former employee of the Fischer Packing Company and a retired employee of Transit Authority of River City of Louisville.
Preceding him in death was a son, Charles Gregory Lewis; a granddaughter, Angel Lewis; two brothers, Joe Lewis and John C. Lewis and five half-sisters, Fannie Lou Haydon, Surene Lewis, Mary Lottie Carney, Jewell Lewis and Ruth Humes.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Wilma Hamilton Lewis; two sons, Jeffrey Lewis (Amy) of Lawrenceburg and Mark Lewis (Kim) of Springfield: a step-son, Kenny Thomas (Tommie) of Bardstown; three step-daughters, Sara Denkler of Springfield, Sherri Martin (Frank) and Carolyn Byrd of Louisville; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a half-brother, Ben Haydon (Nellie) of Bardstown.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 7th at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Clay Stevens and Rev. John McDaniel, officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Serving as pallbearers will be Shawn Lewis, Stefan Lewis, Coty Lewis, Dayne Lewis, Travis Thomas and Zachary Martin.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Thursday and after 8:00 Friday morning at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
